Art Show 2

Art StudioKRZYZ PHOTO is Bill Krzyzanowski’s workspace and office for his Commercial Photography Studio at 1800 Locust.

KRZYZ PHOTO was one of the first businesses established in the former automotive district at 18th and Oak.  At the time, the area was blighted, rough and there were no artisan’s of any sort in the area.  That has all changed, everything from Araby Salon Collective, Disc Golf World, Bridgework Community Church to the many galleries and residential living spaces are now along the 18th street corridor.  Next to KRZYZ PHOTO is Grinder’s and behind that is the Crossroads KC Stage where They Might Be Giants were setting up for their Thursday night show when I was there.  This area has developed in the past thirteen years from blight to a very hip and fun place to be. “We are surrounded by art, music, and food, it’s not your average neighborhood,” says Laura Krzyzanowski.

Outside KRZYZ PHOTO is their trademark BUY ART sign.  The Krzyzanowski’s chose six artist to design the sign, each artist picked a letter and the finished product is on the front of their building.

Bill and Laura met at Hallmark in the early 1980’s.  Bill started his freelance business in 1998 and moved the business to their current location in the Crossroads in 2000.  His specialty is:

Bill specializes in

Bill offers a full range of traditional and digital photographic services and photocomposition conception and execution to create compelling visuals.

Laura sells real estate for Better Homes and Garden and promotes Kansas City art and artist.  She also collects art, “I love collecting artwork from local artist and my biggest challenge is not enough walls, we have so much talent here in Kansas City and I hope people get out and explore the galleries and consider buying pieces for their own homes.”   Laura is excited about their September show because it will be a fundraiser for the KC Pet Project, more on that to come…

Look for more art openings this year at KRZYZ PHOTO and check out and 18th and Oak area, its a great urban neighborhood with lots going on!
