Rooms to Grow

Design Gives Back in Raytown

Design Gives Back stepped into the lives of Nakia and Jesse Daniel’s family whose battle with sickle cell anemia had taken a toll on their family. Their daughter Essence died from sickle cell anemia, and their youngest son Elijah was diagnosed with the disease. In a surprising turn of events the Daniel’s oldest son Isaiah was a rare bone marrow match for his little brother and saved his life. Throughout this harrowing ordeal Nakia had learned about Design Gives Back and asked for two new rooms for her sons.

“Your space can help define who you are,” she says. “I wanted the boys to have new rooms that would take them out of the past, anchor them in the present, and point them toward the future.”

And that she did.
